SFA & SFA 62 Educational Assistance Program
SFA Education Assistance Program (aka SFA Scholarship Fund) was established and is designed to provide one-time scholarship grants to members, dependents and grandchildren of SFA members in good standing. The number of grants awarded and amounts are determined by the Scholarship Committee with the approval of the Association Board of Officers. Grants may be given in the name of individuals or corporations when funds are contributed directly for this purpose and is approved by the SFA Board of Officers. The Assistant Secretary who selects its committee members chairs the Scholarship Committee.
In Memoriam, Mitchel Allen Williamson
Mitchel Allen Williamson, 56, of Aberdeen, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020, at his home.
Mitchel Allen Williamson was born on 09/18/1963 at Eglin AFB, Florida. He enlisted into the US Army on 02/22/1982. He began his military career in the Pathfinder Co at Ft. Rucker, AL as an 11B Infantryman. After completing the Special Forces Qualification course, Mitch continued his career in the Army by serving as a Special Forces soldier in the 10th, 7th, and 3d SF Groups. He retired as a MSG with A Co 2 BN, 1st Special Warfare Training Group at Ft Bragg, NC. After retirement Mitch lived in Pinehurst, NC with his wife, Stephanie, and had a very special bond with their beautiful daughter, Kendall. Mitch held a BS in Political Science, and enjoyed fishing, golf, and horses and was an active member of Special Forces Association Chapter 62.
