The 15th annual USA SOC International Sniper Competition Awards Banquet was held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the B Hawk Distillery in Southern Pines, North Carolina. This prestigious event gathered participants, sponsors, and guests to celebrate the exceptional skills and achievements of the world’s top snipers.
Key Highlights:
The evening began with a warm welcome from the event host, Josh Bowers, who set the tone for a night of recognition and camaraderie. A keynote speech was delivered by COL Kent Solheim (BIO), highlighting the critical role of snipers in military operations and the importance of precision and dedication in the field.
Competition Overview:
In its 15th year, sniper teams from special operations forces across the U.S. Special Operations Command, the Department of Homeland Security, and international partners were put to the test in a grueling 23-stage, multiple-day competition designed to demonstrate their skill and capability. “Snipers were tested on their skills in intense events that look, feel, and sound like modern-ground combat,” said Lt. Col. Scott Elliott, the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Special Warfare Training Group commander. “The instructors of the Special Forces Sniper Course, the premiere U.S. military school for long-range marksmanship and sniper options, designed events that challenge the three-person teams’ ability to work together.”
This year’s competition saw participation from 18 sniper teams representing six countries, including Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and the Netherlands. U.S. teams included those from the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th, and 20th Special Forces Groups, as well as the 75th Ranger Regiment. Additionally, the U.S. Marine Forces Special Operations Command and Naval Special Warfare Command each fielded three teams, and the U.S. Coast Guard completed the roster of competitors.
